Recipe: Tangerine French Toast


 

Recipe Ingredients

1-8 oz. pkg. cream cheese (room temperature)
½ cup Aloha From Oregon tangerine marmalade
1 Tbsp. Aloha From Oregon crystallized ginger chopped (optional)
12 slices French or Italian bread (1/2 inch slices)
4 eggs
1 cup milk or half-&-half
½ tsp. vanilla

Recipe Instructions

Mix together the first 3 ingredients. Spread the tangerine mixture on 6 slices and top with the other 6 slices of bread. Mix the eggs and milk or half & half and vanilla. Dip the slices into the mixture and let soak on each side for a short time. Heat griddle to medium & brown slices on each side slowly so the egg mixture cooks through. Dust with powdered sugar and sliced almonds if desired. You can also serve with heated maple syrup or your favorite berry topping.

Version 2: You can prepare this the night before by spreading the mixture on the bread and instead of dipping the slices; place the six pieces in a greased rectangular baking dish. Pour the egg and milk mixture over the bread, cover and chill overnight. Bake uncovered in a 350° oven for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
