Recipe Instructions
Mix together the first 3
ingredients. Spread the tangerine mixture on 6 slices of bread
and top with the other 6 slices. Mix the eggs, vanilla
and milk or half & half. Dip the slices into
the mixture and let soak on each side for a short time.
Heat griddle to medium heat & brown slices on each side
slowly so the egg mixture cooks through. Dust with
powdered sugar and sliced almonds if desired. You can
also serve with heated maple syrup or your favorite
berry topping.
Version 2: You can prepare this the night before by
spreading the mixture on the bread and instead of
dipping the slices; place the six pieces in a greased
rectangular baking dish. Pour the egg and milk mixture
over the bread, cover and chill overnight. Bake
uncovered in a 350° oven for 30-35 minutes or until
golden brown.
